About
Tomoya Strathfield stands out as a cozy fusion spot nestled in the heart of Strathfield Plaza, bringing a delightful blend of Korean and Japanese flavors to the table. Located at Shop 34/11 The Boulevarde, this restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for quick lunches or casual family dinners.
The highlight at Tomoya Strathfield is undoubtedly its diverse menu, featuring everything from fresh sushi and soba to crispy katsu sets and hearty stews like beef bulgogi and tofu mushroom. The sushi impresses with its freshness, though some may find the rice a bit soft, while the soba offers a refreshing, chewy texture that balances the meal beautifully. Fans of comfort food will appreciate the golden, crunchy katsu available in pork, chicken, or fish, served alongside rice and soup — a satisfying combo praised for both quality and portion size.
Another standout is their banchan (refillable side dishes), which add an authentic Korean touch and elevate the overall dining experience. Dishes like steamed egg, seaweed salad, and the umami-rich beancurd udon showcase the thoughtful preparation and attention to flavor balance. The cold noodles and zhajiangmyeon satisfy on warmer days, while the silky smooth soondubu stew provides warmth and comfort.
Service here complements the food with attentive, friendly staff who ensure glasses and banchan are promptly refilled, creating a welcoming environment that enhances the meal. While the atmosphere can grow busy during peak times, this bustle only speaks to the restaurant’s popularity and consistent quality.
Tomoya Strathfield’s approach—offering generous portions, reasonable pricing, and a dependable fusion of Korean and Japanese cuisine—makes it a reliable choice for both families and friends seeking a flavorful, fuss-free meal. Whether you crave a fresh sushi set, a crispy katsu plate, or a warm bowl of stew, Tomoya delivers with fresh ingredients and a comforting touch that leaves a lasting impression.
“ Little gem - we have tried sushi & soba set. The sushi was fresh but rice was little soggy. The soba was cool, chewy and refreshing. Good side dishes & service. This is a great place for a quick Jap style meals with friends & families. ”
“ This cosy korean-jap fusion restaurant in Strathfield plaza does a solid feed for hungry mouths. It might not be Nobu, but the katsu that I got was well crispy outside and a decent serving size at that, for a pretty good price considering its in a soup + rice combo. The gyoza/fried dumpling is crunchy and has quite a lot of filling, and the fried prawn is so fat and juicy. The service is friendly and they bring the food out relatively quick. ”
“ A great variety of dishes with surprisingly good quality. Food comes out quickly, which is perfect for a busy lunch break. It’s always bustling—which probably says a lot about how good it is! It can get a bit too crowded at times, but it’s consistently a delicious and satisfying spot. ”
“ One of our favourites in terms of quality, flavour, and options! Great service, with attentive, polite staff that asked to refill banchan twice without us requesting! Visited on a Sunday and we got in relatively early, before the lunch rush - so plan ahead! We ordered the beancurd udon, which had a delicious, umami broth. We also ordered the tofu and mushroom stew, which was served with rice, and whilst it was a great taste with a hint of spice, the vegetables (zucchini, onion, celery) were a bit too firm and not quite well cooked. We really liked the teriyaki tofu, which came with miso soup and rice! We also ordered the fried dumplings, which were okay in terms of filling, but very oily and really felt too dense - wouldn't recommend. Overall, not our first time and definitely won't be the last! Great fusion of Korean and Japanese food - worth a try! ”
“ Fun and friendly Korean/Japamese restaurant in the heart of Strathfield. Good sized menu with plenty of variety. The price here is very reasonable. We got some KFC, Beef Bulgogi stew, Steamed Egg and a Seaweed Salad. Good amount of banchan that includes refills. Nice sized portions to the meals too. Also recommended are their katsu meal sets. Tomoya is a reliable family restaurant that always serves great food. ”
